Capitola Completes Wharf Repairs
After two weeks of repairs, the Capitola Wharf has reopened for business.

Regular inspections earlier this year found that eight pilings needed to be replaced, said Steve Jesberg, head of the city's public works.

A delay in delivery pushed the work into late October.

The city coordinated with the businesses on the wharf to avoid making repairs during prime visitor season.

The oversize pile driver that places the pilings broke when the equipment was first placed, Jesberg said. But after repairs the rest of the job went smoothly. This work was the second time in his eight-year tenure that pilings have needed to be replaced.
