BREAKING NEWS: Capitola City Manager To Retire
Capitola City Manager Richard Hill will retire in July 2010. Hill submitted his plan to the City Council on Oct. 30 in a special closed session meeting.

Hill has served the city for nearly nine years and gave the council eight months notice to allow for recruitment and planning.

"It has been very enjoyable to work for the city of Capitola. … The time has flown by and I now find myself at the end of a very rewarding career looking forward to some new experiences," Hill said in the release announcing his plans.

Capitola's next city manager will join a relatively new group of top staff. Mike Card will take over as chief of police replacing the retiring Richard Ehle in January. Community development director Jamie Goldstein joined the city in October 2008, and the finance director position has been filled on an interim basis by Chuck Comstock since February.

Hill and his family plan to continue to live in Capitola.
